Happy New Year! We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and that everyone is off to a great start to the new year. 2020 does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
Here at Tannor's Tea, we are focusing on expanding our footprint to new foodservice accounts (if you know of a cafe, restaurant or deli without a matcha on the menu, please let us know!) and developing new products. We hit a few bumps in the road at the end of 2019 with new product development, but we are moving ahead and should be ready to launch the new product within the first half of 2020.
We wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our loyal customers and fans who have helped to make the past year of our business a very fun and rewarding one. In order to start the year off on the right footing, we wanted to provide you with a matcha margarita recipe to enjoy right away (today is Friday, after all!!!) And for those of you who are participating in a Dry January, you can have this recipe ready to go for February 1st! And for any of you who want to see different matcha cocktails, please let us know, and we can continue to work with baristas/bartenders to expand our matcha cocktail list :)
Recipe:
1 oz Tannor's Tea liquid matcha concentrate
2-3 oz tequila (we prefer Casamigos or Milagro Barrel Reserve Silver)
2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice (FRESH is the key word here, people!)
1 oz agave or simple syrup
--optional salt rim as desired--
*Notice that we left out the usual ingredient of triple sec or Cointreau, as we like the margarita in its most essential form. If you want more of a "traditional" margarita, feel free to add in 1 oz of a triple sec of your choice.

Another big update to roll out to our matcha fans... In our next round of production, we have decided to include chlorophyllin, which is the supplement version of chlorophyll that is usually derived in a liquid or pill form. Honestly, most people hear the word "chlorophyll" and they are transported directly back to their days in middle school when they first learned about chlorophyll's role in photosynthesis in plants. Or they just remember that chlorophyll is what gives plants their signature green color.
And that's all fine!!! Haha, we're not here to get all judgemental on your science knowledge. What we are here to do is tell you about the role that chlorophyll can play in the human body and the positive effects that often occur when you injest chlorophyll!
We have been doing a ton of research over the past few months on chlorophyll and the incredible health benefits that it has on the body. We've decided to add chlorophyllin to our product in order to enhance the naturally occuring benefits that are already abundant in our liquid matcha concentrate, and we are so excited to share a more comprehensive list of these health benefits with you:
Chlorophyll has marked benefits such as:
Needless to say, we are thrilled that we can add the healthy powerhouse of chlorophyll to our product. We can't wait to hear what you think!
Matcha love,
Samantha

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great weekend! Just wanted to check in and let you all know about what's been going on behind the scenes here at Tannor's Tea headquarters...
After getting some exciting traction on the food service side of the business in Berkeley/Oakland (with cafes & restaurants), we are going to be introducing a packaging update which will mean that we will be slowly discontinuing our current 16 oz glass bottles in order to create a 32 oz PET (plastic) bottle! This updated packaging is much better suited for shipping our product to all of you-- no more broken glass shipments (YAY!) and most importantly, our customers will be getting a BETTER PRICE per ounce! We wil be rolling out the new packaging to Amazon as well, so if that's your preferred way to purchase the product, you're in luck :)
For those of you who have been enjoying our matcha every morning, we hope that this new version of the product is going to make your mornings that much better.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or just want to say hi, please feel free to do so :)

]]>It's Monday afternon, and we are coming down off the craziness of this weekend's San Francisco Renegade Craft Fair. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this craft fair, this is a fair that occurs several times per year across many cities in the US. Renegade is a curated marketplace where all sorts of makers & designers come together to showcase and sell their products. This summer's fair was in the Festival Pavillion at Fort Mason and it was a beautiful and spacious venue.
I met so many interesting and delightful people. Many became friends, and many became customers as well. I appreciate the positive feedback from every customer as we made our curated matcha lattes with vanilla oat milk, and I loved getting to meet our booth mate, Eric, who created Shades of Sugar Bakeshop based out of Oakland. Getting to hear each person's story of how they fell in love with matcha made me smile from ear to ear. Learning about the different reasons why people started drinking matcha, and why they continue to drink matcha, was yet another reminder that I am in the right industry.
One of my favorite parts of running this business is getting to meet so many fascinating and passionate people who are also focused on creating products that can make the world a better place. Walking around the craft fair, there was a tangible energy that was incredibly unique. I found that many of the makers were so open and excited to speak about their own entrepreneurial journeys, and I was amazed at the stories that I heard.
If there's one large take away that I have from attending this fair, it's that nothing can replace or shine brighter than an entrepreneur's passion for that they do. The passion of an entrepreneur is an unmistakeable, buzzing energy that beams from a person's face as they talk about their work. Being around all of that energy over the weekend has definitely given me an extra dose of it as well.
Thanks for reading, until next time.

]]>I'm going to try to update this blog more frequently to let you all know the latest updates with the company! Since the last update, quite a bit has happened...
We started listing our product on Amazon, which has been an incredible experience. As a one-woman company, the Amazon partnership allows me to be able to sell our product to people all over the US and frees me up of the packing and shipping of boxes since Amazon is able to handle that part of the process for me. I'm so excited to be able to get onto Amazon and allow customers to try the product with their Prime shipping (it still blows my mind that anyone in the US can get the product in TWO days!) To find our listing on Amazon, just search for us under "Tannor's Tea".
We also were able to get a cool feature in Forbes last Friday! The article was called "7 Entrepreners Shaking Up The Food Industry" and I was able to give some honest advice about my entrepreneurship journey. The road to where we are now-- and we are still VERY new-- has been a rocky one, but I've learned so, so incredibly much thus far and I'm looking even more forward to the road ahead. LINK: https://www.forbes.com/sites/meimeifox/2019/06/07/7-entrepreneurs-shaking-up-the-food-industry/
In future blog posts, I would love to use this medium as a chance to be honest about the struggles that I'm facing as a solo-entrepreneur so I can hopefully inspire those people who are perhaps going through something similar. I'm always open to connecting with other entrepreneurs and people in the food/beverage industry, so don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to talk.
We've got some more big updates around the corner, so I'll fill you in soon!

]]>Hi Tannor's Tea Fam!
We just got back from our week-long trip to Japan and it definitely exceeded our expectations. We flew into Osaka and traveled to Kyoto, Wazuka, Atami and Tokyo. It was a whirlwind of an experience, and we will be planning our next trip back ASAP.
Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and breathtaking experiences in Japan was the opportunity that we had to go visit some of our suppliers in Japan. The rolling hills of tea were nothing short of magical, and we had a blast learning how to find the perfect tea leaves.
We came back to the US with a renewed sense of excitement to build out our sales channels and get our matcha concentrate into more accounts. We are looking forward to an exciting next few weeks with lots of great news to share. Stay tuned!

]]>Furthermore, we were chosen to participate in UC Berkeley's LAUNCH Accelerator program! This accelerator program chooses high-potential startups across the UC Berkeley ecosystem and works with them in order to develop a better idea of who their customers are, value propositions and develop a MVP. Additionally, we are going to be working on a three month timeline to develop our product line and develop deeper relationships with our customers (you guys!). If you want to suggest any comments or concentrate blends that you'd like to see from us in the future, please let us know!
Feel free to reach out to us: info@tannorstea.com or @tannorstea if you have any questions about us pre-launch.
